Oscar Quiñonez – viola 

Originally from Mexicali, Baja California, he has a degree in Music Education from the Veracruzana University and a degree in performance of orchestral instruments (viola option), from the Superior Institute of Music of the State of Veracruz under the tutelage of Mtro. Andrei Katsarava. Winner of the PECDA (Program to Stimulate Artistic Creation and Development) 2017-2018 with the artistic project “From the mountains to the sun: Music to share” within the category of performing Music issued by the ICBC (Instituto de Cultura de Baja California). His musical experience includes participation as a violist in different groups and orchestras such as: the Ensamble de Música Antigua de Xalapa, the Boca del Río Philharmonic Orchestra, the Mariachi Universitario, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Xalapa and the Orquesta Universitaria de Música Popular, these last three groups. artists from the Universidad Veracruzana. In 2014 he developed as an assistant principal of the violas section of the Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil del Estado de Veracruz. He has taken master classes in viola with the teachers: Ivo Van Der Werff, Rebecca Huber, KirstenYon and Yulia Dogadaeva; chamber music with: Ivo Van Der Werff, Meena Bhasin, Anna Elashvili and David Kaplan, these last three being members of the DECODA collective at Carneggie Hall. With the José White quartet and the Penderecki quartet in the city of Aguascalientes in 2016. In July 2016 and 2017 he was awarded a scholarship to participate in the Skidmore Chamber Music Institute in Saratoga Springs, NY (USA) organized by the DECODA collective.

In the genre of tango, he has participated in “Tango for musicians”, second edition in 2016, held in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Taking lessons with the teachers; Ramiro Gallo and Hernán Possetti. He took a master class with the bandoneonist Daniel Binelli in the same year and has had advice in a particular way with other exponents of the genre such as Julián Peralta in matters of musical arrangements. During the year 2019 to date he is in charge of the Ruptura tango project presenting concert tango focused on new compositions and music by Eduardo Rovira.
